The town of Manacor is the second largest city in Mallorca and is situated inland – in the northeast of the island – close to coastal resort of Portocristo. It is famous for its local industry, the produce of artisan olive wood handcrafts and is base of the pearls factory Majorica. However, Manacor really became famous worldwide as it is home of the champion tennis player Rafael Nadal – who is still deeply connected with his roots and has just opened the doors to the new Rafa Nadal International Academy.
The local market is quite a large one, where you can find a wide choice of stalls from local farmers, to artisans from all sorts, to CAFÉ SOCIAL Specialty Coffees! It takes place in the old part of the city, going from the fruit and vegetables market in Placa de la Constituciò to the big open square named Plaça Ramon Llull and all around the impresive church in Plaça del Rector Rubí.
Where to find CAFÉ SOCIAL within Manacor’s Market
I will be at the entrance of the vegetable market, known by the locals as the “mercat municipal dels fruites y verdures”. You will find my stand just next to Pili’s store on one side – who sells 100% organic fruit and veggies – and Rafa, “The Grapes Man”, who sells only seasonable grapes from his own produce, cultivated in his small farm here in Mallorca. What a great spot to be in surrounded by these great-unique guys. We shall end up naming our area The Specialty Wing!
See you here every Monday from 8am until 1pm
